## Leader Selection Content

When you configure a Leader Selection activity, you are primarily defining **what students see and how clearly the role of the leader is communicated**.

* **Title:** Use a **clear and action-oriented title** (e.g. *“Select a team leader”*, *“Choose your team representative”*). This helps students **immediately understand what is expected** when they reach the activity<br>
* **Instructions:**&#x20;

  This is the main guidance area where you explain:

  * **What students need to do** (e.g. select a leader)
  * **What the leader’s responsibilities** **are**
  * **How the team should approach the decision**

#### Tips on the educational value of Leader Selection

* Be explicit about the **leader’s responsibilities**, this sets expectations and avoids confusion
* Encourage teams to **rotate leadership roles across sessions** to give all students the opportunity to develop these skills
* Design activities where the leader must **synthesise input from all team members**, not work in isolation
* Use Leader Selection alongside reflective tasks so students can **evaluate team dynamics and leadership effectiveness**
* Monitor team interactions to ensure leadership remains **inclusive rather than dominant**

Leader Selection works best when embedded within a broader learning design that values **active participation, structured collaboration, and meaningful accountability**, which sits at the heart of how LAMS supports teaching and learning
{% endhint %}

If you are using leader selection in the context of [TBL](https://docs.lamsfoundation.org/tbl/), encourage students to rotate taking the leader or captain role. Specially if teams are maintained through out a period of time. This will ensure that all team members can step up to the role.

### Learning Outcomes

{% hint style="success" %}
**Mapping learning outcomes to activities is very useful for curriculum mapping.**

As with all activities in LAMS, you can map your learning outcomes to this activity. If you want to add a learning outcome, just search for the particular outcome or type a new one it will be added to your list of learning outcomes for the future.

You can search Learning Outcomes by code or name.
