# Monitor

## Summary

The **Summary section** provides you with a **real-time overview of student responses**, along with peer ratings and feedback. This view is designed to help you quickly understand **what students are thinking and how they are evaluating each other**.

<figure><img src="/files/w51434pQjoPQOLxxQVDc" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### Student Responses

Each student submission is displayed as an individual card, including:

* **Student name**\
  Identifies who submitted the response
* **Date**\
  Indicates when the response was submitted
* **Full response text**\
  Allows you to read the student’s complete answer in context

This gives you immediate visibility into **individual understanding and reasoning**.

### Ratings

If you enabled rating criteria, for each response, you can view peer evaluation results:

* **Criteria-based ratings**\
  Displays ratings for each defined criterion (e.g. *Quality of reasoning and justification*, *Critical insight and reflection*)
* **Star rating visualisation**\
  Provides a quick, intuitive view of performance
* **Average rating + number of votes**\
  Shows how the response was evaluated overall and how many students contributed to the rating

Helps you quickly identify:

* **Strong responses**
* **Weaker or less developed answers**
* **Consensus or disagreement among peers**

### Comments

Below each response, you can see:

* **Peer feedback comments**\
  Written feedback from other students
* **Comment author and date**\
  Shows who provided the feedback and when

👉 This allows you to:

* Understand **how students are interpreting each other’s work**
* Identify **common strengths and misconceptions**
* Surface **high-quality feedback and discussion points**

{% hint style="info" %}

### Practical Tip

Use the Summary view during or immediately after the activity to:

* **Highlight strong examples** of reasoning and justification
* **Compare different perspectives** across students
* **Address misconceptions** visible in responses
* **Prompt discussion**, e.g.\
  \&#xNAN;*“Why do you think this response received higher ratings?”*
  {% endhint %}

This turns the Q\&A Summary into an **interactive facilitation space**, helping you guide discussion, surface insights, and **deepen student understanding in real time**.

## Analytics

The **Analytics section** gives you a **high-level overview of student participation and progress** in the Q\&A activity. It helps you quickly understand **how many students have engaged** and whether the activity is progressing as expected.

<figure><img src="/files/5fytUVAB8F9ciPILR3Ua" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### Activity Status

* **Status badge** (*e.g. In progress*)\
  Indicates the current state of the activity.

### Cohort Overview

* **Group / teams name** (e.g. Playpen Learners)\
  Identifies the group of students participating in the activity
* **Completion summary** (*e.g. 5 of 8 students finished*)\
  Provides a quick snapshot of overall participation

### Participation Metrics

* **Students**\
  Shows the **total number of students** in the activity
* **Finished**\
  Displays how many students have **submitted their responses**

### Progress Bar

This gives you an at-a-glance understanding of engagement levels

* **Visual completion bar**\
  Displays the **percentage of students who have completed the activity**
* **Completion percentage** (*e.g. 62.5% completion*)\
  Provides a precise numerical indicator of progress

## Advanced settings

The **Settings section** allows you to **review and adjust how the Q\&A activity behaves for students**. These options control visibility, interaction, and overall flow of the activity. *(see* [*Advanced settings*](/lams/tools/q-and-a/create.md#advanced-settings)*).*

### Restrict access&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/jG8meami4cK0zixaej0P" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

The **Deadline** setting allows you to **define a specific date and time after which students can no longer access the activity**.

Once the deadline is reached, the activity becomes unavailable to all students, ensuring that activity are completed within the intended timeframe. This is particularly useful for timed activities where fairness and consistency in access are important.

**How it works:**

* You select a date and time using the calendar and time picker
* The system enforces this as a **hard cut-off point**
* After this moment, **students cannot enter or continue** the activity

**Why use a Deadline:**

* Ensures all students complete the activity within the same timeframe
* Supports fair and controlled conditions
* Helps manage pacing in both synchronous and asynchronous lessons
* Reduces the need for manual intervention to close access

This feature gives you precise control over activity availability, helping you maintain structure and integrity it.

This option enables the teachers to set the **deadline** for students after which they will not be allowed to submit the activity.

### Edit "Live" Activity <a href="#edit-live-activity" id="edit-live-activity"></a>

The **Editing “Live”** feature allows you to modify all settings and content of the Q\&A activity while it is already in progress and accessible to students.

{% hint style="info" %} <mark style="background-color:green;">**Be aware!**</mark>\
\
If you are editing an activity that is already been used by students, then students might be slightly confused as they might be viewing older information. So when editing content that is live, make sure that your students know about this.&#x20;
