On the Voting activity, students can see the title, voting question/instructions along with the possible candidate choices.

Note that there is an Other option to add a text entry as this was defined by the teacher when the voting tool was created (see Advanced settings).
Cast a vote
In the example, a student decides to add a text instead of selecting one of the preset options:

After the student has entered the text choice, the student submits the answer and confirms it.
As the teacher has allowed students to see the results (see Advanced settings), the student gets presented with all the other students' choices and charts.
