Survey

The Survey activity helps you gather thoughts, opinions and feedback from your students. You can set a variety of questions aimed for collect data from a particular group of students.

Why do I want to use Survey?

  1. Collect thoughts, opinions and feedback from students.

  2. Analyse and research responses that hopefully will lead to improve your teaching.

  3. Allow students how they might compare to their peers in terms of their survey responses.

What can I use a Survey for?

There are a ton of reasons why you want to user a survey, but the main one is to gather and assess students' opinion on a topic that you need feedback or are conducting reasearch.

One of the main reasons that teachers use Surveys in LAMS is to gather students' feedback on their teaching approach or methodology.

Pedagogies that use Forum: Reciprocal Learning, Think-Pair-Share, Predict Observe Explain, etc.

How does it work?

You ask the students a set of questions about a topic where you need to gather feedback or thoughts from the students. The Survery tool allows you to create multiple survey questions like multiple choice, rating scales, Likert scales, Open-ended questions and Ranking questions.

Once the students answer these questions (which you can make each question compulsory or optional for them to answer), they can see their responses for all questions. They might opt to re-do the questions as well.

If you allow students to see the results of all the answers from other students, only after the student has answer the question, the student is able to see all other students' results in charts.

This will allow students to compare their answers to other students.

As a teacher, you can export the students' survey answers at any time in MS Excel format which then you can use to import in other sophisticated statistical analysis software like SPSS or R.
