Vote

A Vote activity is meant to gather information from students. However, votes or polls are not an assessment activity but rather a way to get opinions from students about a subject.

Why do I want to use a Vote?

  1. Gauging student understanding in real time.

  2. Facilitate a discussion.

  3. Encouraging students to reflect on the lecture materials.

  4. Get students to predict the outcome of an experiment.

Educational Insight

As a teacher, you are able to assess students' views and opinions that might help you facilitate discussions or gauge the students' understanding.

What can I use Vote for?

As a teacher, you can use a vote for various pedagogical purposes such as to ask students about their background knowledge on the subject you are about to embark, get their personal opinions or experiences, predict the outcome of an lab experiment, or to test their understanding of subject you've have completed.

How does it work?

You (teacher) provides the students with a question and a set of possible choices they can choose from -or add their own.

Students then select one or more options (or add one of their own) and then they can see a report with all the answers from other students.
