The Question and Answer tool allows teachers to pose a question or set of questions to students individually, and after they have entered their response, to see the responses of all their students presented on a single answer screen.
This activity is not necessarily an assessment activity, but rather to an enquiry activity where you prompt students to answer questions on their take or knowledge on a the subject.
Ask students questions to reflect on a particular topic/subject.
When students are able to see other peers responses (after they have answer the question themselves), they are able to gain perspective.
If enabled, you can also get students to comment and rate on each others' answers.
Educational Insight
Q&A is very powerful as allows the students to share their views but also see their peers' views on the topic. This is an important aspect of the Q&A activity as students reflect on how their own answer is different from their peers, providing them with different perspectives.
Additionally, you can allow students to rate other students' responses based on a specify criteria.
Q&A is the perfect tool for open enquiry learning to develop critical and scientific thinking to the full potential.
Pedagogies that use Q&A: Problem-Based Learning, Think-Pair-Share, Inductive learning, etc.
You (teacher) provide students with a question (or set of questions) for the students to answer in an open fashion.
After students answer the questions, they can view other students answers to the same questions. Students can then re-calibrate their understanding based on others' perspective (this is the default behaviour - though you can opt for students not to see others' answers).
Other students' answer can be presented anonymised (not displaying the name of the student that provided the answer) or not.
When students are reviewing each others' answers (be this anonymised or not), you are able to enable an option to let students to rate and comment on each others' responses.
