Chat are always used for synchronous discussions, therefore allows you to conduct a conversation with students that are online but in distributed locations. The Chat activity provides an synchronous discussion tool where students can hold conversations in real time who are logged in at the same time.

Why do I want to use Chat?

  1. To held synchronous discussion among students online.

  2. Foster collaboration and facilitate sharing of students' perspectives.

  3. Track and follow student participation in the discussion.

  4. Visualise how students are debating, what the most discussed subjects are, identify which students are participating and those that might not be interacting.

What can I use Chat for?

Chat is a simple way to conduct synchronous discussion where you want students to share views and collaborate to expand on a topic or idea.

How does it work?

You (teacher) provide students with a chat topic for the students to share their views or opinions and collaborate.

Students are able to send messages to the chat, reply to each other messages.
