Share Resources

Share Resources allows teachers to add media content into a design, such as URLs, individual files of all kind, also zipped websites and even complete learning objects (IMS Content Package). The tool can also be configured to allow teachers and/or students to add content to the activity during the lesson.

Why do I want to use Share Resources?

  1. Well, it is your go-to tool for every file sharing. Whether it is for you to share files with the students and or allow students to share files among themselves.

  2. It also allows teachers to see what resources the students have seen and - to certain degree, how much time they have spent on a particular resource or file.

  3. You can also get students to make comments and rate the resources you share with them.

  4. A place for students to share their resources. At times you might want to have students doing some research and collect resources on a topic. Share Resources is the tool that will allow students to do so.

Educational Insight

Share resources is not just about disclosing resources, but also allow students to comment and rate the content for two reasons: understand their understanding and also provide feedback on the quality of the resources.

What can I use Share Resources for?

Aside from share resources and track the students that have view them, you can use tool as a central repository of resources that students themselves can collect and share with their peers.

Pedagogies that use Share Resources: Team-Based Learning (specially for pre-class resources), Problem-Based Learning (to get students to collect resources in their learning outcomes), Think-Pair-Share, etc.

How does it work?

You (teacher) provide students with a set of resources for the students to revise and study. For each resource, you can append instructions on what you want students to focus their attention on.

Students then view these resources and you as a teacher can view when and how long they spend on each resources as well as (if you enable these options), see the students comments on the resource along with their rank.

You can also allow students to add resources to the activity in the lesson as well. And all students within the activity will be able to view and share (and comment and rate - when enabled), these resources.

Time on resources

Please be aware that estimating the time that students spend reviewing a resource should be taken with a pinch of salt as given the way the web works, we cannot be certain if the student is reviewing the document or have gone have a coffee at the cafeteria while leaving the screen on.
